Spontaneous Song #5

Posted by on Nov 04 2010 | Audio, Sarah Sings, Songtaneous, Spontaneous Song a Day

I

I “composed” today’s song with my eyes closed. Shortly into it, I got this strong mental image of a woman walking toward me across the ocean.

(I tried to sing what she showed me. *smile*)

II

I wondered if I should include a quote today (Food for Thought #71) or just post Song #5.

Undecided, I did a search quotes about new beginnings and …

Yes (the Universe answered), I should post this quote.

“There are two mistakes one can make along the road to truth … not going all the way, and not starting.”
– Hindu Prince Gautama Siddharta (the founder of Buddhism)

Spontaneous Song #4

In today’s song, I established a pattern and tried to keep returning to it. I’m not sure it was entirely successful, but it was a good vocal exercise.

(And I promised no editing. *smile*)

Spontaneous Song #3

This week in teaching my lessons, I worked with my students on resonance (the tone and ring of what you sing) and connecting the registers (removing the “breaks”) of the voice.

So in today’s song, I concentrated on singing long, resonant tones and “letting” my voice go where it wanted. Letting go is the key to moving through the registers — you let your voice, rather than your head, figure it out.

I tried to be aware of using the expanse of my range, without working hard.
